The building is located at 1320 South Wasatch Drive (1300 S & 2400 E) in Salt Lake City. Registration starts at 6:30 p.m. with the program beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The theme of this year's reunion is Foundations of Faith Family Night. Joseph Fielding McConkie will be our featured speaker.

9/5/2005 -- The Joseph F. Smith Building on the BYU campus is completed. The dedication is scheduled for Tuesday, September 20th, at 11:00 a.m. in the Marriott Center. It was decided that we use that venue as it will facilitate more people than the new building site. It is anticipated that the seating will fill quickly as the event is in conjunction with a regularly scheduled Campus Devotional. Parking will be available on the north side of the Marriott Center. We ask that those attending be in their seats no later than 10:50 a.m. Following the devotional, self-guided tours of the new facility will be available throughout the remainder of the day.

4/11/2002 -- Brigham Young University will be holding a groundbreaking to raise the Smith Family Living Center and build the new Joseph F. Smith building on

Richard Dutcher, actor, writer, director and producer of God's Army and Brigham City will address us. He is currernly working on a movie about the life of the Prophet Joseph Smith.

10/30/2000 -- The Smith Family Reunion which honors the 162nd Birthday Anniversary of President Joseph F. Smith will be held on Monday, November 13, 2000 at the Monument Park Stake Center. The building is located at 1320 South Wasatch Drive (1300 South & 2400 East) in Salt Lake City. Registration starts at 6:30 p.m. with the program beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Richard Neitzel Holzapfel, co-author of Joseph F. Smith: Portrait of a Prophet, will address us. He will also share some rare photographs of Grandpapa. He is making all of the copies of the photographs he used in his book, and some that he didn't, available for the online archives. This will be a great boost to the already growing collection.

6/18/2000 -- The Joseph F. Smith Memorial Grove will be dedicated by President Gordon B. Hinkley on July 24, 2000. The program will begin at 3:00 P.M. Parking is available east of "This is the Place" monument. If you need more information, please e-mail me at Brentmcook@aol.com.

(Note: President Hinckley was ill and unable to attend the dedication. Elder M. Russell Ballard was asked to dedicate the Grove.)

1/18/2000 -- The 200th Birthday Celebration of Hyrum Smith will be held on the 13th of February in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square at 7:00 p.m. Elder M. Russell Ballard will speak and there will be a segment aimed especially for children so this is a family affair. We need to get this info out to as many of Hyrum's descendants as we can. So let everyone in your families know.

9/29/1999 -- The Smith Family Reunion which honors the 161st Birthday Anniversary of President Joseph F. Smith will be held on Monday, November 8, 1999 at the Monument Park Stake Center. The building is located at 1320 South Wasatch Drive (1300 South & 2400 East) in Salt Lake City. Registration starts at 6:30 p.m. with the program beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The keynote speaker this year will be Heidi S. Swinton, author of the book and screenplay American Prophet: The Story of Joseph Smith. The PBS documentary aired for the first time in Utah last month and will air nationwide on November 26, 1999.


8/8/1999 -- Smith Family Memorial Garden in Nauvoo Dedicated. As part of the Joseph Smith Sr. Family Reunion, the Smith Family Memorial Garden in Nauvoo was dedicated. Patriarch Eldred G. Smith offered the dedicatory prayer. The garden, which is situated to the southeast of the temple lot, contains a statue of Joseph Smith, and a marker giving tribute to the Smith Family.

Smith Family Memorial The marker reads: "This Memorial stands as a silent testimony and witness to the selfless devotion, hard work, perserverance and loyalty of this remarkable family. They dedicated all they had, their time, talents, strength, and their very lives to the establishing of Zion and the building up of the Kingdom of God for the final time upon the Earth. May the Lord bless them and their posterity through all generations of time."

Additional beautifications to the grounds are planned, with other statues to be included.
