Heidi S. Swinton

Heidi S. Swinton wrote both the book and PBS documentary script - American Prophet: The Story of Joseph Smith. She also wrote the script for the award-winning PBS documentary Trail of Hope: The Story of the Mormon Trail as well as other video presentations. In addition, she is the author of numerous books, magazine articles, and historical accounts and compliations, including In the Company of Prophets, Pioneer Spirit, Something Extraordinary, In the Utah Tradition: A History of the Governor's Mansion, and The Hotel: Salt Lake's Classy Lady. She also contributed to the following books: Presidents fo the Church, Heroines of the Restoration, May Christ Lift Thee Up, As a Woman Thinketh, and Every Good Thing.

Ms. Swinton has served on the General Melchizedek Priesthood and Relief Society Writing Committee, the Visiting Teaching Writing Committee and is currently as member of the BYU/Relief Society Women's Conference Steering Committee. She served nine years as a Gospel Doctrine teacher, and has been a ward Primary President, Young Women's President, Relief Society counselor and teacher. She is a graduate of the University of Utah and attended the Medill Graduate School of Journalism. She currently serves on the University of Utah Alumni Board.

She and her husband, Jeffrey, have five sons, four living.
